Portland, ME Territory Sales Representative Michael Burns meets customers where they are, helping to create solutions and drive innovative partnerships. Establishing himself as a resource, Burns brings his passion for problem-solving to every interaction.
I started as a Commercial Service Representative back in early 2020. There, I learned the ins and outs of the business while working to assist in helping our expansive customer base. My father has been in the industry for 18 years, so the business has become a household thing. He is a big advocate for Casella and was a large reason why I started on this career path to my current role as a Territory Sales Representative.
I will check in with them to see how things are going and make sure their equipment is in great shape. I will also field calls for most of them if they have common concerns, whether it comes to billing, new initiatives, or new locations. I also spend time prospecting, trying to locate new customers who would be interested in coming on board, and finding creative ways to dispose of their waste responsibly.
The ability to work within the knowledge base that I have at my division. A lot of my colleagues have been in the industry for 15 to 20 years and have lots to share and learn from. It’s been great to come up and search for my own solutions while getting wisdom from them. It is exciting to me. I also truly value interacting with people and customers every day and helping them in any way I can.
This job is more rewarding than I ever thought. Being able to solve problems that we may not have known existed for people who didn’t expect to encounter them is really cool. It’s so impactful to help them find a solution to something that will ultimately create a more sustainable and easier process for them.
