Meyers Honored by United Way of the Adirondack Region

Casella Market Area Manager Bill Meyers was recently honored by the United Way of the Adirondack Region with the organization's Distinguished Citizen Award, recognizing his dedication, kindness, and many contributions to community service.

"Bill Meyers is an outstanding individual. His humble and generous attitude, along with his genuine and authentic character, inspire those around him to think beyond themselves in an empathetic and compassionate manner,” said John Bernardi, President and CEO of United Way of the Adirondack Region. “The Dorothy and Alan Booth Distinguished Citizen Award has recognized such individuals for their selfless and generous spirit since its inception several decades ago. Mr. Meyers has epitomized the characteristics we all aspire to when we think of a distinguished citizen, and he exemplifies our dedication to increasing the organized capacity of people to care for one another".

As market area manager, Bill oversees operations in the Northern New York Region, including Potsdam Hauling, Plattsburgh Hauling, and Clinton County Landfill. In addition to his exemplary personal community engagement efforts, giving back is engrained in Meyers’ leadership style. The Northern New York Region recorded approximately $225,000 in annual community giving and 1,400 volunteer hours in 2022. 

“This recognition is so much bigger than one individual,” said Meyers. “Everyone in this room, our friends, our families, is striving to move forward and make a difference in the community.”
