Casella Waste Systems, Inc. (Casella) recently announced a $100,000 pledge to the Plattsburgh YMCA in support of the organization’s $13 million capital campaign. All funding from the campaign will go directly towards the development of a new state-of-the-art, multi-use facility designed to bring health and wellness to the forefront of New York’s North Country community.

“Casella has a long history of partnering with the YMCA and couldn’t be more excited and honored to make this donation to support its capital campaign,” said Casella Chairman and CEO, John W. Casella. “The YMCA provides a critical role within our communities for young people, adults, and families who need them the most. Our shared values with the Y will help to create a supportive, inclusive, and energizing facility where people can truly belong, contribute, and thrive. We are committed to helping build sustainable communities through strategic investments like this one, and we can’t wait to see this project come to fruition.”

With expanded community areas, spaces for youth and families, and characteristic YMCA inclusivity, everyone has a place at the YMCA. Parents will have workspaces and observation areas while children are playing, teens will have a safe place to be active, and everyone can access the facility, regardless of their ability to pay.

“We are honored that Casella is supporting our vision to transform health and wellness in the North Country,” said Plattsburgh YMCA CEO Justin Ihne. “Casella has always been involved in our community in so many ways, we are humbled by their continued partnership with the YMCA!”
