Building Careers, Strengthening Culture: Shaunna Parker's Passion for People

Shaunna Parker

Since joining Casella in 2012, Shaunna Parker has built a career focused on connecting people with opportunity. After starting in Accounts Receivable and gaining insight into operations across the company, she found her calling in Human Resources and now serves as Senior Talent Acquisition Manager. Shaunna is passionate about sharing the Casella story, building relationships, and helping candidates discover meaningful career opportunities. Through her work, she helps ensure Casella's growth is fueled by talented individuals who embrace the company's Core Values and strengthen its culture every day.

How has your career evolved throughout your time at Casella?

I started with Casella in February 2012 in the Accounts Receivable department. During my time in A/R, I was given opportunities to learn about many different areas of the organization and work closely with leadership teams across hauling divisions, landfills, transfer stations, and Resource Solutions. Those experiences helped me build relationships throughout the company and ultimately opened the door to Human Resources.

In your Human Resources role, what do you enjoy most about helping bring new people into the company?

I love sharing the Casella story and getting people excited about joining our team. It's always rewarding when I finally meet someone in person after speaking with them throughout the hiring process. I adore meeting new people and building relationships. There is no such thing as strangers, only friends I haven't made yet.

What qualities do you look for when identifying candidates who will thrive at Casella?

I look for people who get excited about the work we do and who embrace our Core Values. The individuals who thrive at Casella are committed to teamwork, safety, service, and integrity. They take pride in their work, support those around them, and want to make a positive impact every day.

Casella has grown significantly over the years. How have you seen the company's culture evolve alongside that growth?

What amazes me most is how consistent our culture has remained despite the tremendous growth we've experienced. The culture itself hasn't changed, but the way we talk about it has. The messaging around our Core Values, our expectations, and the way we care for one another has become louder than ever before. Our leaders embrace those values and work hard to lead by example every day. That is the change I have seen.

What has been one of the most rewarding experiences of your career at Casella?

We have an amazing team of Talent Acquisition professionals. During each of their interviews, I knew they would not only excel in their roles but would also be passionate about Casella's mission and committed to living our Core Values every day. I was excited about each of them from the beginning, and it has been incredibly rewarding to watch them grow, make an impact, and help strengthen our workforce across the company. Seeing the team develop and contribute to Casella's success has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

Why is finding the right people so important to the company's success?

The right people believe in what we do. They take pride in their work, are committed to quality, and are always looking for ways to improve. Whether it's a large innovation or a small change that makes a process more efficient, the right people help move the organization forward and encourage others to do the same. When you have the right people in the right roles, success follows.

What continues to motivate and inspire you as you help shape the future of Casella's workforce?

We do such meaningful work alongside incredibly talented people. Every day, I get to connect with people who want to learn, grow, and are passionate about the work they do. Helping people discover opportunities, grow their careers, and succeed at Casella continues to inspire me every day.
